Ron Todd, Summa’s Chief Technology Officer, has 35 years of experience as a founder, executive, or chief technologist in state-of-the-art, high-technology companies; particularly in electronics and software. The first company he cofounded was a pioneer in the development of the personal computer industry and an innovator in electronic instrumentation. He has had a key role in multiple M&A cash-outs.
Ron has consistently operated at the state-of-the-art. He led the development of the first-ever commercially-deployed video-on-demand hardware. He architected the software for a multi-terabit per second digital cross-connect. He setup and ran the East Coast design center for a California integrated circuit firm, developing ICs for backbone fiber optic telecommunication and data communication networks. He developed sophisticated real time and object-oriented software in C and C++ in UNIX and Windows environments.
He consulted to major organizations, including Bell Laboratories, Hewlett Packard, and Raytheon. He also advanced the state-of-the-art with his inventions in electronic counter-countermeasures, robotic imaging systems, underwater camera systems, microscopy, underground electric power transmission, and utility-scale photovoltaic power plants.
Ron holds S.M. and S.B. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
